Ekar Farm is an urban farm located within walking distance of The Met at Boulevard One. For over ten years now, they have served as a means to connect people to their community, and the community to mother nature and the earth.  Ekar provides many different opportunities to help the Lowry community and beyond through different horticultural practices including donating produce grown from the garden to local food banks, providing a community garden space for neighbors to grow their own food, and educational classes to help the community learn how to become more environmentally sustainable.

Ekar means ‘Most Important Things’ in Hebrew and truly fits into their mission as a nonprofit organization trying to help the greater good of their community.  In their own words, Ekar describes their mission as “We nourish body, heart, mind and spirit on an urban farm in Denver, Colorado that serves as a common on which to repair the food system, and the environment. Rooted in the Jewish vision of creating a more environmentally sustainable, socially just, and spiritually connected world,  we believe these values and these tasks are EKAR, ‘the most important things.’”

During these unprecedented times we are now facing, Ekar has many has expanded their offerings to the community by doubling the amount of produce they normally grow in a season to feed more people as well as making seeds, seedlings, and consultations readily available to neighbors in order to grow your own garden at home.
